Hongqi, which comes under FAW, has launched the updated Tiangong 05 sedan and Tiangong 06 SUV with 800-volt fast charging capacity; the 05 is available with the price of 171,800 yuan and the 06 with 191,800 yuan in China, which translates to 23.48 lakh rupee to 26.22 lakh rupee in India.

The sedan’s length, width, and height are 4820 mm, 1915 mm, and 1480 mm, respectively, and the SUV measures 4750 mm in length, 1640 mm in width, and 1640 mm in height. The wheelbase for both EVs is 2900 mm, giving ample legroom for rear-seating individuals.

What's new?

The updated Tiangong 05 Sedan comes with a 650 km and the Tiangong 06 SUV with a 619 km CLTC range. With these ranges of capacity, now they become an ideal option for families looking for an EV to go on long drives.

Charging speed is now also improved. With the maximum capacity of the DC charger, now it takes only 12 minutes for 10-80% charging. 

They also support V2L (vehicle to load) with an external discharge of 6 kW, which can power an electric water heater, refrigerator, washing machine, and dishwasher. A new colour option is added to Yunmeng Silver, making the total available colour options 7.

The 05 has fastback sedan styling and a drag coefficient of 0.213 Cd, and the 06 features a mid-size sport utility vehicle profile with a closed-off grille for modern EV styling and hidden door handles for better aerodynamics.

Technology & Features 

They come with a floating 15.6-inch central touchscreen for infotainment, which controls navigation, media and vehicle settings. Compared to the outgoing model, there are almost no physical buttons, and all controls are touch-based. It also has an AR head-up display, which projects primary driving data. 

The L2.9 Advanced Driver Assistance is available in both EVs with 23 sensors, and it is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon Ride chip. The features are Navigation on Autopilot (NOA), Highway Assist, Urban Driving Assist, Auto Lane Change and Smart Parking.

The cabin gets a standard 8-speaker audio system, but the option of a 12-speaker Dynaudio and a 14-speaker Dynaudio is available for the sedan and SUV, respectively. It has 14-way power-adjustable seats with heating, ventilation, and massage functions. 

For convenience, the cabin gets a wireless phone charging pad, multiple cup holders and large boot space to carry multiple pieces of luggage. It also supports voice commands for multiple functions and includes multi-zone voice recognition.

Powertrain 

The Tiangong 06 and Tiangong 05 are available in both single-motor RWD drivetrain and double-motor AWD configurations. The transmission for both EVs is single-speed automatic. The power output and peak torque aren't yet disclosed; note it is set to vary depending on battery pack and drivetrain.

The acceleration timing for 0-100 km and top speed for both EVs are different from one another but better than the outgoing model. The undisclosed details for Tiangong 05 and Tiangong 06 will be available in the public domain in the near future. It is expected that the battery pack will range from 60 to 85 kWh.

Brake & Suspension 

The front suspension of Tiangong 05 and 06 is double wishbone independent, which provides better control of wheel movement, and the rear is multi-link independent, which ensures more comfort and stability on uneven roads. It is equipped with continuous damping control, which adjusts suspension stiffness in real time.

The front and rear suspension are ventilated discs, which help with better heat dissipation, and they have consistent braking performance. Braking also includes ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) and ESP (Electronic Stability Program).
