Tata Motors, one of the leading auto manufacturers in India, is all set to launch three electric cars in the next two years. These upcoming EVs are Sierra EV, Safari EV and Avinya EV, whose starting ex-showroom price is expected to be ₹15 lakh, ₹22.5 lakh and ₹30 lakh, respectively.
The upcoming electric cars from Tata Motors are set to be introduced in multiple battery packs; the launch of the Sierra EV is expected in May 2026, the Safari EV may be in October 2026, and the Avinya EV probably in mid-2027, although the dates are yet to be confirmed officially by the auto manufacturer.
Tata Sierra EV
The Sierra EV is based on the Acti.ev platform; it is set to be launched with two LPF battery packs (55-75 kWh) featuring real-world range up to 600 km. Tata Motors will launch it in two different configurations; it will come with a single-motor front-wheel drive (FWD) and double-motor all-wheel drive (AWD) drivetrain and single-speed automatic transmission.
It will support a DC charger up to 100 kW, which will charge the vehicle from 10 to 80 per cent in just 35-45 minutes, depending on the battery pack. It is expected that the acceleration timing for 0-100 km/h will be 7-8 seconds, and top speed may go up to 170-180 km/h.
The front-end features a closed-off grill for EV styling with modern headlights and LEDs. The interior will have a three-digit screen setup, one as infotainment, the second as a driver display and the third as a co-passenger screen. It may also include ventilated seats, Level 2 ADAS, ambient lighting, a panoramic sunroof and a wireless phone charging pad.
Tata Safari EV

The Safari EV is also based on the Acti.ev platform; it may be introduced with 65 kWh and 75 kWh LPF battery packs. The standard one may give a range of 500 km, and the latter may give 600 km. It will come with a PSMS that features a RWD drivetrain and also with two PMSMs; one is bound with the front axle and the other with the rear. The setup makes it an EV with an all-wheel drive drivetrain.
It is set to support DC chargers up to 120 kW for larger battery packs, which will take around 30 minutes for 10-80 per cent charging. The cabin will be equipped with a 12.3-inch touchscreen for infotainment and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster for driving data and navigation. For the occupants’ comfort, it will include ventilated seats, a panoramic sunroof, double-zone AC and others.
Tata Motors will introduce it with a six-person and seven-person seating layout in configurations of 2-2-2 and 2-3-2, whose dimensions in terms of length, width, height, wheelbase and ground clearance are 4,668 mm, 1,922 mm, 1,795 mm, 2,741 mm and 205 mm, respectively. It will feature a decent boot space to carry the luggage.
Tata Avinya EV
The Avinya EV is a premium all-electric SUV, which is being developed on the Electrified Modular Architecture with the collaboration of Jaguar Land Rover (JLR). It may come with two NMC battery packs, 75-90 kWh, whose ARAI-certified range may be up to 600 km, and will support DC charging up to 400 kW that will charge the EV from 10-80% in 15 minutes.
It will be introduced in the Indian market only with an all-wheel drive configuration, i.e., featuring two motors, one with the front axle and the other with the rear. The transmission is also expected to be single-speed automatic, but some reports say it may feature double-speed automatic transmission. In terms of look, it is going to be futuristic, stylish and modern, which makes it recognisable even in city traffic.
Its cabin is set to be equipped with high-tech and smart features to ensure the comfort, convenience and safety of the driver and passengers. It will get Level 2 ADAS, ambient light, a powered seat with ventilation and massage functions, multiple wireless fast charging pads, a panoramic sunroof, and a large-screen infotainment system with a multiple-speaker premium sound system.
